Fitting Exercise into Travel
It can be a challege to get a good workout in while traveling. The room is often small or shared with other family members. The hotel gym likely has a limited selection of equipment, limited space, and no classes. Exercise is one of my priorities when I travel, especially because I want to be able to sample regional cuisine without worry, so I plan my exercise routine and expectations in advance.
First, I check out the workout options at my hotel, resort, or lodging. Some may have a spin bike, others do not. Some have an array of weights, while others may only have a treadmill. I call in advance if I know I will be relying on the fitness center where I am staying.
I also have designed some workouts that I do while I am away that require no equipment and can be done in the small area of the room or at the hotel gym if needed. The one at THIS LINK is my HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) cardio workout. If you are looking for an equipment-free workout routine while traveling, you can check it out and adapt it to your own needs. There are some modifications there if you need them, and you should always check with a doctor before doing any exercise routine. Be sure to stick with what your body is capable of doing!
If you are unfamiliar with any of the moves, you can look them up online. I will publish my bodyweight strength routine in another post.
