Seattle Movie Locations

One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to learn if any movies or television shows were shot on location where we are going. If there are, I watch or rewatch them and map the locations out. When I visit, I then go to see as many of them as I can while there.
When we went to Seattle, the most prominent sight we saw from movies was the Space Needle, which you find in many movies and shows including Austin Powers. We also treked to Gas Works Park which was a fun place to walk around and offered an awesome photo opportunity for a skyline of Seattle. You would recognize from various movies including Singles. We made a quick stop at the Fremont Troll from many movies including 10 Things I Hate About You. Dr. Mott's house from The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. looks exactly the same as it did in the movie on our quick drive-by. We also got a glimpse of the houseboat from Sleepless in Seattle, which is challenging to see unless you are on the water. Pike Place Market and the Athenian Inn were some other locations we visited.
Some of the places we didn't get to visit that you may want to check out if you go to Seattle were locations from Officer and a Gentleman, like the Tides Inn, which is still there and running. The Coryell Court Apartments from Singles and Bob's Java Jive from Say Anything and I l Love You to Death were some other locations we also didn't get to see.  It also would have been cool to catch a ferry over to "Goose Island" Anderson Island from WarGames while there, too.
Why movie locations? Especially if you don't necessarily LOVE the movie? It's a really great way to not only see some major landmarks, but some places that may be more out of the way from the traditional tourist path. I love to see what things are like in various parts of a place I am going, not just the places all of the tourists visit. Also, even though I didn't get to go to some of these places, now that I have been to Seattle and have a better idea of where things are and how to travel around most easily, I have something different to guide a future trip to some new locations!
If you'd like, I'd love to help you plan a trip to a place where lots of movies have been filmed and give you a movie itinerary to take your trip in a new direction!
Also, if you are headed to Seattle, Pike Place Market has the most amazing floral bouquets that are SO inexpensive! Totally worth getting an inexpensive vase while there to brighten up your lodging!
